Industry 1 - Construction & Demolition :
Within this industry, there is a clear legislative requirement to complete testing and tagging to AS/NZS 3760:2022. The legislation that mandates testing and tagging within your industry is the Construction and Demolition Standard AS/NZS 3012. This standard also outlines a different requirement for retest dates than those outlined in AS/NZS 3760/2022. All Portable equipment and flexible electrical cords must be tested on a quarterly (3 monthly) basis. So what makes testing and tagging a legal requirement in Perth? for this we must go the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022. It is easiest to share a direct extract from the standard itself that reads:
Part 4.7 - Division 3 - R.150
“1) A person conducting a business or undertaking at a workplace must ensure that electrical equipment is regularly inspected and tested by a competent person if the electrical equipment is
(a) supplied with electricity through an electrical socket outlet; and
(b) used in an environment in which the normal use of electrical equipment exposes the equipment to operating conditions that are likely to result in damage to the equipment or a reduction in its expected life span, including conditions that involve exposure to moisture, heat, vibration, mechanical damage, corrosive chemicals or dust.”

Competent Person
(a) for inspection and testing of electrical equipment — means a person who has satisfactorily completed a competency-assessed training course on testing and tagging using the pass-fail type of electrical instrument known as a portable appliance tester;
The definition of "competent person” is the key inferred reference to ASNZS 3760/2022. The only Australian standard for testing appliances with a “Portable appliance tester” is AS/NZS 3760:2022 Electrical Safety Standard.
